Wording For Wedding Reception Invitations

No surprise that once the happy couple has decided to join in matrimony then the work of organizing the event takes over. But at times what is supposed to be a happy event turns into something approaching nightmarish proportions.


After deciding on the colors, theme – this is becoming increasingly popular – and the venue etc. it is time to send out the wedding invitations. Thereby hangs another problem. What to say? How to phrase this very important announcement is a problem to many.

For example, imagine this is a cross-culture wedding. What is acceptable to one side may be totally unacceptable to the other. Or perhaps one set of parents is divorced, how do you handle that on an invitation when one step parent was responsible for bringing up the step child for most of its life?

The answer is to sit down and discuss with all parties what they want. Do you want the invitation to be religious – another problem if the bride and groom are from different faiths.

The wording for wedding reception invitations can be a minefield but there are many options available. Many wedding websites offer suggestions – they have seen it all believe me!! –and will often guide you through this delicate matter.

More often than not the traditional aspect of wedding invitations has been lost. Many couples, faced with paying for their own weddings and not relying on the bride’s parents, opt to invite their guests using only their own names. This neatly sidesteps the problem of step-parents and also cultural differences.

Other wording for wedding reception invitations could include words from a favorite song or poem. This makes it extra special for the couple and precludes the different faiths problem.

As the world gets smaller many people from different cultures meet and fall in love. Many people – instead of viewing this as a problem – celebrate their differences even to the point of having two ceremonies at the wedding venue.

Where better way to start this union than on the wedding reception invitation. This is a great way to show the world that love unites all!
